September:  Dear Gardeners Thank you to those that came to our monthly talk last night, it was great that so many came to hear David Bevan on Butterfly conservation. I personally loved the talk and Alder Buckthorn is already on my Christmas wish list. Next month Letta Jones who was unable to speak last year due to ill health, will be speaking on medicinal plants, so I hope that you can all put the date in your diary. The Kennington Country Life 'Harvest Festival' which is on the 16th - 19th October, is also a note for your diaries. This year we have Shane Connelly (florist to HRH Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall) giving a floral demonstration, the fruit growers association filling St Anselm's with apples and pears, a children's service with farm yard animals and pets, a huge harvest celebration at the end of it all on Sunday AND a flower festival. The flower festival aims to encourage groups to decorate zones of the church, which will then be judged by Shane prior to his demonstration. I'd like the Garden Society to 'own a zone' and would appreciate to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in ideas, helping or funding. Please let me know as all on the committee would like this year to be a great success. I have no doubt you will be hearing more about it as the weeks pass, but for now I hope you've made a note of the dates and please let me know if you'd like to be involved. As I write it's a lovely sunny day and I'm still managing to get stuff done in the garden in the evenings after work, so hoping you enjoy your spaces and I look forward to hopefully seeing you at the next meeting. Happy gardening Johnny

February:   Dear Gardeners, it was great seeing those that were able to come on Thursday, to hear James Crebbin-Bailey speaking about Topiary. We were very luck y that he was able to fill in at the last minute, especially with such high quality. It has certainly got me itching to get out and trim my balls.

I also promised a link to his website, so have copied below !

I hope that we will see you at the next meeting, , but will email you more about that closer to the time

Happy gardening
